Responsible research data management is, in the vast majority of cases, a requirement of funders of scientific research that researchers must fulfil. Sharing research data by FAIR principles is an obligation arising under Articles 4 and 5 Decree on the Implementation of Scientific Research Work in Accordance with the Principles of Open Science (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 59/23 and 39/25) and Article 6c Act amending and supplementing the Public Information Access Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 141/22).

Handling research data requires different workflows and processes according to the different stages of the research data lifecycle: finding data, collecting or creating data, organising and documenting data, processing data, preserving data, protecting data and publishing data.
