Work Packages

The work of the Centre for Quality Assurance in Scholarly Communication (hereinafter referred to as the Centre) is based on the following work streams:

Work Package 1: Governance and coordination

Participants in the Centre are: the Central Technical Library at the University of Ljubljana, the Maribor University Library of the University of Maribor, the University Library of the University of Primorska and the University Library of the University of Nova Gorica. The coordinator of the Centre is the Central Technical Library at the University of Ljubljana. The forms of implementation of the activities are regular meetings of the participating institutions linked to the Centre.

Work Package 2: Preparation and delivery of user training

Training sessions are provided by the Centre's staff, collaborating institutions and external contractors on how to effectively implement open science practices. The content of the sessions is archived as videos and presentation files and made available to the public under a Creative Commons license. The activity is carried out through intensive networking and cooperation with other structures such as the SPOZNAJ project.

Work Strand 3: Production of supporting materials on open science practices

The Centre's staff produces support tools and materials in the form of manuals, portals and the like, depending on the context. The content of the support tools and materials is made available to the interested public under an appropriate Creative Commons open licence. The activity is carried out through intensive networking and cooperation with other structures such as the SPOZNAJ project.

Work Strand 4: Advice to users

Using a variety of communication channels, the Centre's staff provides advice to users on the possibilities of open publishing, sharing research results according to FAIR principles, copyright issues, open science infrastructure, citizen science, evaluation and assessment of scientific research work according to open science principles, and other issues related to open science practices. The content of the advice will be upgraded in the light of changes in policies and requirements of funders, decision-makers and other stakeholders involved.

Work Strand 5: Support and advice on citizen science research, scholarly communication and other aspects of socially engaged science

The Centre's staff provides advice on citizen science research, scholarly communication and all other aspects of socially engaged science. This activity is carried out through intensive networking and cooperation with other structures such as the Citizen Science Network in Slovenia or the National Observatory of Citizen Science.

Work Strand 6: Support, advice and management of open science infrastructure

The Centre's staff provides advice on open science infrastructure. Members also manage their own institutional repositories.

Work Strand 7: Cooperation with other activities and structures of the Action Plan

The Centre's collaborators also work with various stakeholders on other activities of the Action Plan for Open Science for the implementation of Objective 6.2: Open Science to improve the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of the Resolution on the Slovenian Scientific Research and Innovation Strategy of Slovenia 2030, such as the Slovenian Open Science Community and the community's expert bodies.
