Implementing measures M6.2.1 Internationally aligned national Open Science ecosystem and M6.2.5 Citizen science of the Action Plan for Open Science Central Technical Library at the University of Ljubljana (CTK), the University of Maribor Library of the University of Maribor (UKM UM), University Library of the University of Primorska (UP UK) and University library of the University of Nova Gorica (UK UNG), to establish, develop and deliver joint activities of The Centre for Quality Assurance in Scientific Communication (hereinafter referred to as "the Centre"). The Centre is dedicated to the wider scientific research community and promotes various aspects of scholarly communication in line with the principles of open science and the principles of integrity and ethics in scientific research.

Measure M6.2.1 Internationally aligned national Open Science ecosystem ("M6.2.1/4 Skills and Competencies for Open Science") sets out, inter alia, the following activities:

• A6.2.1/4.1: Organization of a network of information support for Open Science to provide coordinated training of researchers in support FAIR and Open Science in Slovenia.
• A6.2.1/4.2: Establisment of professional support for addressing copyright and ethical issues in research work in the context of Open Science.
• A6.2.1/4.4: Promotion of Slovenian science in the context of Open Science principles.

In the context of Activities A6.2.1/4.1: Organization of a network of information support for Open Science to provide coordinated training of researchers in support to FAIR and Open Science in Slovenia, with the aim of supporting, advising and training researchers The Centre covers the following content areas or services:

• Support for researchers in open access publishing,
• Support in resolving copyright issues,
• Support for research data management,
• Support for the introduction and implementation of systems for the evaluation of scientific research work according to the principles of open science,
• Support for citizen science,
• Managing infrastructure for open science,
• Scientific publishing consultancy,
• Organising and providing training courses.

In the context of Activities A6.2.1/4.2: Establisment of professional support for addressing copyright and ethical issues of research work in the context of open science, the participating institutions CTK, UKM UM and UP UK individually advise, train users and jointly resolve key issues in the field of copyright and ethical issues of research work in the context of open science. The implementation of the activities is integrated into the wider activities of the Centre.

In the context of Activities A6.2.1/4.4: Promotion of Slovenian science in the context of open science principles, the participating institutions CTK, UKM UM and UP UK raise awareness and train researchers on the possibilities and importance of scholarly communication, foster the integration of the academic community and the public, and promote various aspects of scientific literacy. The implementation of the activities is integrated into the broader activities of the Centre.

In the context of Measure M6.2.5 Citizen Science ("M6.2.5/1 Observatory of Citizen Science") the following activities are defined:

• A6.2.5/1.1: Establishment and operation of a national observatory of citizen science.
• A6.2.5/1.2: Collaboration of the national observatory with other related European and international observatories of citizen science (COs).
• A6.2.5/1.3: Inclusion and participation of the national observatory in European projects or providing support for the involvement of other citizen science actors in European projects (e.g. Horizon Europe).
• A6.2.5/1.4: Establishment and operation of a citizen science network in Slovenia called citizenscience.si.
• A6.2.5/1.5: Inventory of existing projects, initiatives, practices, and research infrastructure (RI) in the field of citizen science in the Republic of Slovenia.
• A6.2.5/1.6: Support for the development of citizen science within the framework of the Open Science Information Support Network.

CTK organises the Citizen Science Network in Slovenia, implements the Citizen Science Observatory and carries out the other tasks defined in activities A6.2.5/1.1 to A6.2.5/1.5, while UKM UM, UP UK and UK UNG carry out the tasks under activity A6.2.5/1.6: Support for the development of citizen science in the framework Open Science Information Support Network of the Action Plan for Open Science. All institutions promote and raise awareness of the importance of socially engaged science and public involvement in scientific research processes among the academic community and the public, which is integrated into the broader activities of the Centre, as part of the overall action.

The Centre is open to the involvement of new members, i.e. third institutions not listed as promoters or co-implementers of the actions, as long as they demonstrate such interest and have the capacity to implement them. Participating institutions have no financial obligations in their participation, unless they agree to do so in a specific legal transaction and provide funding from their own resources.
